Cup Match Victory 7 -4
Bradford progressed to the next round of the cup with an impressive 7-4 victory over Mere. Bradford’s visit to Mere, who are two divisions higher, would serve as a useful benchmark in terms of their continued development into a formidable outfit. Bradford appeared undaunted by the prospect as seconds after the kick off Ryan made it abundantly clear with a well taken goal. Bradford continued to punch well above their perceived weight and were swift to consolidate their lead when Ryan’s speculative shot eluded the goalkeeper’s desperate efforts. Bradford dominated the rest of the half with further goals from Cosmo (2) and William S. The fleet footed forwards exploiting the width of the pitch and indeed the size of the goals, which was a strikers dream and conversely a goalies nightmare. Bradford had a comfortable 5-1 cushion going into the break and were seemingly cruising to victory.
Mere emerged from the interval an entirely different entity and made significant inroads into Bradford’s half and quickly took the early initiative. A William S strike briefly steadied the ship, only for Mere to score another. Yet despite scoring again Mere received disproportionately scant reward for their efforts considering the amount of possession and pressure they applied. Bradford were unable to clear their lines as their clearances continually found the opposition who didn’t hesitate in driving it back. For a few uncertain minutes it looked like Bradford would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as Mere closed the deficit to 6-4. To their credit Bradford were able to weather the storm and another William S goal from an acute angle gave the visitors some welcome breathing space and their passage into the next round.
3-2 home victory
Bradford maintained their winning run with a 3-2 home victory over Castle Combe Colts. Despite having the lion’s share of possession Bradford failed to capitalise on their numerous forays into the opponent’s box. The tie remained goal-less as they convened for half time.
Castle Combe looked dangerous on the break and it was the visitors who resumed with the greater conviction after the interval. Bradford’s first half superiority resulted in an air of complacency and this manifested itself in the indecision that lead to the Castle Combe’s first goal. This acted as a clarion call to Bradford. A hurried clearance from the keeper was pounced upon by William Stockley who returned the ball with interest as it hit the back of the net to ensure parity. Stockley’s incisive run through the centre enabled him to pick out Miles Charlton who didn’t squander the opportunity to put Bradford ahead. Miles came close minutes later when his shot was denied by the woodwork. However Castle Combe was far from finished as Bradford’s defence were caught knapping allowing them to draw level. Delightful interplay down the left touch-line provided William S with the strike that settled the affair with a matter of minutes remaining.
Once again it was a fantastic team performance, as Bradford continues to go from strength to strength. Ashley tenaciously harried Combe’s forwards and was ably assisted by Dominic and Tobias whose decisive clearances proved invaluable.

BTY FC Under 11 C’s vs Steeple Ashton
2 -1 Victory
Bradford secured a hard fought victory against a committed and well organised Steeple Ashton team. Ashton opted to take advantage of the energy sapping slope in a fruitless attempt to take the sting out of Bradford’s tail. Bradford’s defence were constantly posed questions by sustained periods of pressure which they proved more than equal to. The compact pitch denied the forwards the width they craved as their menacing counter attacks down the flanks always appeared ominous. Miles Charlton marshalled the midfield with authority as Bradford was forced to play up through the middle. Archie?s selfless goal saving tackle epitomised the tireless endeavour of the defence. This proved to be a pivotal moment, denying Ashton the advantage as honours remained even going into the break.
In this thrilling end to end encounter the deadlock was eventually broken midway through the second half, when against the run of play, Ashton managed to poach a goal in a frenetic goal mouth skirmish. This only served to strengthen Bradford?s resolve and their riposte was almost immediate. William Stockley slotted through a perfectly weighted ball which Cosmo adroitly dispatched into Ashton’s net. In the dying minutes of the game, Cosmo reciprocated William’s pass providing him with the decider. Bradford managed to cling on to secure the well deserved victory in the face of a relentless Ashton barrage as the game ebbed away from them.
